Nancy W. Campbell, M.Ed.
President, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Nancy W. Campbell is the current President of the Jenkintown Education Foundation. She has been a member of the Board for over 20 years. She is also proud to be the second of three (3) generations of her family to have graduated from Jenkintown School District, her family having lived in the Borough for over 100 years. Ms. Campbell is an education professional with over 30 years of experience in secondary and adult education, providing expertise in college & career readiness skills instruction to high school and adult populations, as well as relevant professional development to other educators. Her most extensive experience (25+ years) in college & career planning and preparation was with Philadelphia Academies. Inc. (PAI), the organization that created the original high school career academy model. Ms. Campbell has served on the College & Career Readiness Advisory Committee for the Pennsylvania Department of Education and has been a member of the Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable (a consortium of college access and success professionals) for over 20 years. She is currently an educational consultant and the Front Office Operations instructor in the Hospitality Training Institute of Philadelphia OIC, a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty, illiteracy and unemployment in the Philadelphia community. Ms. Campbell has a Master of Education in Secondary Curriculum and Teaching from Howard University

Katie Costandino
Vice President, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Katie is a mom of 4 young children, 3 of whom are current JES students.  She has been a resident of Jenkintown since 2005. Katie has a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy.  She is a per diem physical therapist at Moss Rehab specializing in treating those with neurological conditions. Additionally, she is a visiting physical therapist at Arcadia University in the StayFit Program.  She is an active volunteer in the community with the Jenkintown Home and School Association, as a JYA soccer coach and assists with the Jenkintown Playground Project.

Nina Russakoff
Secretary, Jenkintown education Foundation

Nina is a mother of three JSD students and a lawyer with more than fifteen years’ experience.  She graduated from Columbia College with a B.A., Oxford University with an M.St., and Columbia Law School with a J.D.  She works for the government now, although she spent almost a decade in private practice before welcoming her third child.

Karen Ovington
Treasurer, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Karen has been in public service for over 25 years, 13 of those working in public education.  She began her career working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, first with the Department of the Auditor General and then with the Department of Treasury, Bureau of Unclaimed Property.   In 2007, she moved into the field of public education joining the Norristown Area School District as the Assistant Business Administrator. In Norristown she worked on many fundraising activities and events to help support the students of the district as well as the community.  Karen began working with Jenkintown as the Business Administrator in November 2020 and is looking forward to working with the Jenkintown Education Foundation to support the students of Jenkintown.

Maya Cheek
Board Member, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Maya has lived in the Borough since 1996 and has been an active member of the school district and the community. Maya has served on the Jenkintown School Board since 2001 and is currently its president. In addition, Maya was a founding member of The Breathing Room Foundation, Inc. where she served on the board as its treasures for 10 years from 1997-2007 and is still active.  Maya has served as the corresponding secretary for the Jenkintown Newcomers Club and spent many years volunteering at Jenkintown School District when her children were students there. Maya was involved in the Home and School Association where she served on several committees. Maya is a speech and language pathologist at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit where she works in Early Intervention. Maya grew up in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia and attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy.  Her undergraduate and graduate degrees are from Loyola College in Maryland.

Louisa Garrido
Board Member, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Louisa Terry Garrido feels fortunate to have moved into the Borough of Jenkintown in 2007 from New York City. She and her husband have raised their two daughters here and she has been an active community member, serving as President of Home & School Association and the Jenkintown Newcomers Club. Louisa’s work experience has been for non-profit organizations focused on cancer research and art education.  She is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Non-Profit Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania.

Alex Khalil
Board Member, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Alexandria (Alex) has lived in Jenkintown since 1995. She moved to Jenkintown so that her son Waleed could attend the Jenkintown School District but decided to stay because she fell in love with the Jenkintown Community.  She is the second eldest child of Hind and Feisal Khalil’s six children. She has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Temple University, a Masters Degree from Drexel in Library and Information Science and a JD from The Temple University James Beasley School of Law.  Alex is an IT Specialist focused on IT Quality and Computer Validation. She is also in private practice in New Jersey focused on representing clients probono in Special Education matters and in guardianship matters for the parents of adult children with special needs.

Dana Munson
Board Member, Jenkintown Education Foundation

A Jenkintown resident since 2015 and parent of two children in the district, Dana has been an active member in her community. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, she enjoyed a 17-year career in Corporate Finance at Southern Company, a large public utility company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Dana holds a BA in Mathematics and a Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Jason Slowik
Board Member, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Jason is in his thirteenth year serving as Fine Art Teacher at Jenkintown Middle and High School, where he teaches a general Fine Art curriculum spanning from 7th grade Art through to Advanced Placement levels. Jason has extensive experience in utilizing Art as a catalyst for community building and social change through his work with the City of Philadelphia’s Mural Arts Program from 1997-2006, and he remains a practicing artist. This experience, including efforts in helping manage funding streams for a nonprofit, help fuel his efforts and ambitions with JSD. Jason is spearheading public art efforts in and around the school community while also serving as a liaison for all district educators to coordinate efforts with the JEF.

Lori Sullivan
Board Member, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Lori is the parent of three Jenkintown students and has lived in Jenkintown borough since 2002. Lori has an undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in Education from Temple University.  Lori currently works as a behavior analyst for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22.

Dr. Jill Takacs
Board Member, Jenkintown Education Foundation

Dr. Takacs has been a public school educator for 30 years. She has served as a teacher, principal, director of curriculum, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Dr. Takacs has presented on the local, state, and national level on literacy initiatives, STEAM education, Critical Thinking, Inquiry-Based Learning, Cross Curricular Lessons, Differentiated Learning, Inclusion, and Co-Teaching Practices. She has been the Superintendent of The School District of Jenkintown since 2016. Dr. Takacs is excited to be part of the Jenkintown Educational Foundation. She is an advocate for children and is passionate about equitable opportunities for all students, developing students holistically through academic, curricular/co-curricular, and artistic endeavors and lifelong learning for all.
